The truth is if you don’t do it then you don’t really like it.
Some people live in a fantasy world where if they like something it’ll miraculously come to them.
If you want to be a writer but you don’t write every day, guess what? You won’t be a good writer.
If you want to be good at an instrument but you don’t practice every day? You won’t be good at it.
Everyone wants the happy ever after ending, fame and what not but none of them wants to go through the boring and gruelling process.
But the question here is why? Why don’t we just drop everything and do what we like?
Reason number one. Life. By that I mean, priorities. Sometimes, the things we like doesn’t fit with all the bullshit we’re going through right now. So we put it off. Now, I’m not saying this is okay. I’m a firm believer in taking the chance while it’s in front of you. But, it’s a scary leap and most people just don’t have the courage to take that leap.
Which leads me to reason number two. Fear of the unknown.
“What if I can’t do it? What if I suck? What if this isn’t worth it? What if I lose everything?” Sounds familiar?
We’re all scared of going out of our comfort zones. Anxiety can be hell. It can tear you apart and scar you for life. But succumbing to anxiety itself is not worth it. How can we know if we’re truly capable if we never tried? (Hey, I just answered the second question again!)
There you have it. These fears only hold us back no matter how you look at it. So, go have fun. Take your time and do that thing you like. Know that it’s not too late. Your future self would thank you.
